All things Shopify and commerce
Hi,
-We are trying to figure out how to offer different prices for inventory items, online and on our POS, while tracking inventory on both.
Any solutions? I've scoured the forum but can't find a satisfactory answer.
Thanks,
J
Hello, Jason!
Karlie here from the Shopify Guru Team! Your best bet might be to use an app that would allow you to have different pricing systems for your products. I would recommend looking into some of the apps that you can use to run a wholesale business which you could use to have a category of products online run at a different price. While there are quite a few wholesale-type apps in the Shopify App Store, I've gathered some apps that I think you could use to provide that type of functionality within your store.
Be sure to check out:
These apps would allow you to offer different prices for retail or online wholesale, however, your products don't necessarily have to be sold as wholesale - you could use one of these apps to have separate pricing for retail and your online store as well.
I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions - be sure to ask and we would be happy to help!

Hi Karlie,
Thank you for the info, but, just as I suspected, these are expensive apps for high volume businesses. My business is small and I cannot afford or justify such outgoings.
Is there anyother way to achieve this?
Many thanks
Finally found an app that will help with this. Wish it was built in shopify, but in the meantime this will work. Simplesync $10/month and free 5 day trial.
1. Duplicate the product(s) you want to be both online and on POS. Keep the same sku for both, you can have different prices, tags, types, whatever. I added (POS) to the title of the duplicated ones. Hide the "POS" ones from online, and hide the "online" ones from POS.
2. They sync the inventory between the 2 automatically. Plus it will restock both in the event of a return. I checked and the sync happens instantly.
*I have about 4000 - 5000 different products that I wanted to do this with so I exported my products csv and duplicated them myself in excel and then imported them to shopify. Took me approximately 10 mins.
Thanks for the tip. Isn’t that a terrible fix? What if you need to edit products? You then have to edit it twice for each of them.
To offer different prices for inventory items online and on your POS while tracking inventory on both, consider using a multi-channel inventory management system or software that allows you to set specific pricing rules for each sales channel.
