Hi guys
Is there a way to set a 'default' sort on the Products page in admin, so that we can sort by 'created' and 'newest first' all the time, without having to manually select this sort each time the page is loaded?
thanks

Hi, @milnedaniel
Thanks for bringing your question to the Forums.
Unfortunately, there currently isn't a way to say the preferred sorting method for your Products within your Admin. I can definitely see why this would be convenient, so will be providing this feedback to our developers on your behalf.
In the meantime, if you'd like some store feedback, feel free to drop your URL!
Hello @milnedaniel ,
As per my understanding, you want to sort the order by a specific order for each collection. If so, then you can easily do this by following the steps below.
Please feel free to ping me back if you need further assistance in this regard.

You can sort products by Oldest or by Newest on the Collection page itself. If you want to change all collection sorts at once you can select all and then click Bulk Edit. Choose the option "Sort By" and change all of them at once. The "Filters" on the front end of the collection are there for customers to sort as they please. Thanks Nadia, but the problem I am having is on the Products page in the back end, not the presentation of products on the front end. Can the sort be set as default on the Products page in the back end?
Yes, this can be done by editing the code if you want me to examine your theme kindly share collabrator access and i will do that for you
You'll go to Products and then click the "Arrow Up / Arrow Down" symbol on the right. Sort by "Created". Is that what you're looking for?
yes, but I want this saved as default so I don't need to do it every time I load the product page...
yes, the code will automatically apply the filter
This is an accepted solution.

thanks @Skye - much appreciated - please let me know if this does go into development.
Our store is www.stillspirit.com, just launched this week and still lots of optimisation to do.
Would love to have this option as well!
I would really like to a way to set the default search too. It's a pain to have to set the parameters manually every single time you're looking at products. Add my name to the list of folks who are dying for this feature to be added.
Hi there, @karlijill. Thanks for jumping in on this thread! I've gone ahead and added your feedback here to the feedback we've been collecting around this feature request. Though I can't promise what the outcome will be of passing your feedback along, you can trust that it will get seen by folks that need to see it!

Oh my god, yes PLEASE make this a feature. It's a very basic NEED for me. I too am so frustrated having to manually select these options every single time I need to refresh my product feed in admin. In my opinion it should sort by newly created by default. IT would save me a lot of time and hassle if I could choose it as a setting.
Hello, is there any progress on this feature? With thousands of unique products listed, having the new ones at the top is the way we use the products page 99% of the time.
Hello. I want to comment how important this would be to me as well. There is a feature to create and save a view. I have tried to do this and that feature does not work. Being able to set your product default sort is extremely important to those of us who are continually changing the products in our stores seasonally. Resetting that page every time is extremely annoying.
I would also like this - there's no way to determine what shopify deems most 'relevant' and I would prefer always to have newest first. Please let me know when this is available to change.
Hey, @Anonymous
By default, Shopify typically sorts products based on criteria like "Featured" or "Best Selling." However, if you prefer to have products displayed based on when they were added to your store, you can achieve this by using Shopify apps like the Collection Filter app. This app allows you to set up custom sorting options, including sorting products by the date they were added.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

What's the status on this? Brutal having to do this every time.
This needs to be expedited - very logical to have this in the core Shopify! - This is a flaw currently to have to do this every single.... time.....
A (not ideal but usable) workaround is to bookmark the products page link with the sorting as you want it. That way, when you click on the bookmark, it opens up with the way you want to see your products sorted.
What's the status on this? Would be nice if some of the folks at Shopify had experience actually managing shops with large amounts of items. This basic feature missing is brutal. I love Shopify and it is indeed feature rich and does a great job for what it does but this really needed to be added at initial launch.
I too would love to see this as a feature/setting in the back end.
As a workaround, I've added the page to my bookmarks bar when it's sorted by most recently updated product and is seems to be working.
