Setting up Shopify Payments as a sole proprietor

I've been trying to get in contact with a real person with little luck. I'm trying to set up my store with Shopify payments as a Sole Proprietorship, but it is asking me for an EIN, which I don't have. I read I can just use my SSN, but it isn't getting verified. What do I do?
