All things Shopify and commerce
Hello Shopify Community,
I’m planning to set up my Shopify store based in India, but my target market is in Australia. I have an employee based in Australia who will handle the shipping of orders from within the country. I have a few questions and would appreciate any guidance:
Feasibility: Will it work if I set up my store in India and sell to customers in Australia while shipping orders from within Australia? Are there any known challenges or considerations I should be aware of?
Shipping Extensions: What shipping extensions or apps are available that allow me to manage and ship orders within Australia while my store is based in India? Can these extensions be integrated seamlessly with my Shopify store in India?
Payment Processing: What payment processing options are available for an Indian-based Shopify store that allows me to accept payments in AUD? Are there specific gateways that would be recommended for this setup?
Taxation & Compliance: Are there any tax implications or compliance issues I need to be aware of when selling in Australia but operating from India? How can I ensure I’m adhering to both Indian and Australian regulations?
General Advice: If anyone has experience with a similar setup, I’d love to hear your advice on managing operations, payments, and shipping effectively.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi,
It is pretty easy to do. If you have your employee in Australia who will be shipping products for you, then it is pretty straight forward. You can have your monthly billing setup in UPI or International Credit Card when sitting in India and you should be good to go. This is one of the beauty of selecting Shopify as your ecommerce partner, cross border selling is very easy and when you say, you have your employee in Australia who will be shipping products for you, then it is fairly simple.
You can also ship products from India to Australia. Lot of Shopify merchants are doing the same and going global.
You can use Shopify payment as the payment gateway. For filing taxes, you may discuss it with your local tax consultant. If you need help, you can always PM us and our team will be able to set it for you.

The app integrates seamlessly with the Shopify store and shipping profiles. You can try out the app for free for 14 days and let me know if you have any queries regarding shipping.
