All things Shopify and commerce
I have a Basic Plan store from July 2023. I was given to understand that I can shift from Basic Plan to Pause and Build (and shift back to Basic Plan) whenever I did not expect sales or when I needed to make changes/upload listings/use and understand Shopify Apps etc. I shifted to Pause and Build on 29th January to make the final changes before shifting to Annual Subscription of Basic Plan. On 10th February 2024 I went back to Basic Plan and paid the Annual fee for Basic Plan subscription. I was surprised to see that I was allowed to ship only to 3 countries as I had "Changed" the Plan!!
All along I have been on Basic Plan and shifted to "Pause and Build" only as per the Shopify provisions. If I shifted to "Shopify for Small Teams" or any other plan it could be construed as "Change of Plan, whereas when I went back only to Basic Plan, treating it as "change of plan" and stripping me of what was earlier available on Basic Plan is not fair in my opinion. Now Basic Plan is called "Basic For solo entrepreneurs"!!
In all fairness, I should have been allowed the same benefits (like for those who were already on Basic Plan)? To whom should I represent this?
All plans, incluing Basic, allow up to 3 free MARKETS, not 3 countries. Each market can include 1 or more countries, depending on your needs.

I was replying to the part where you were "suddenly allowed to ship only to 3 countries."
If you wish to limit each market to only 1 country then you limit yourself to 3 countries. To have more than 3 markets the store must be on Advanced plan where you can add unlimited new markets at US$59 for each.
HTH
Pause and Build plan can be used when a Store is on Vacation/ or one wants to understand Shopify and build the store, and then when a store returns from a vacation, the store will lose it's original privileges??
Sorted this out with the help of Support. I added more countries which I wanted to ship to the three markets. Takes time to understand Shipping settings. Thanks
Same here, i upgaraded to retail plan then switched back becuase in retail plan they replaced my theme with basic theme which i had no idea, so i switched back and got POS Pro separately which costed 121 dollars and only to find out i lost so many features most importantly additional staff access. Switching to Ecwid, shopify getting greedier and greedier
