All things Shopify and commerce
Hello,
I am selling large items and will be arranging my own delivery. i.e. The collection of these and shipment to the customer will be arranged by myself.
Is it possible on Shopify to still process the order if I am not using the shippers that Shopify suggest? If I do this I assume that I therefore lose the ability to track my order in the Shopify platform.
thanks,
Hello @GNewland,
Yes, you can absolutely process orders on Shopify without using the built-in shipping carriers. Since you're handling delivery yourself, you’ll just need to manage fulfillment manually.
When an order comes in, you can go to the Orders section in your Shopify admin and mark it as Fulfilled once you’ve arranged the shipment. If you have a tracking number from a third-party service, you can manually add it along with a tracking URL so customers can still check their order status.
If you’re not using a tracking service, you might want to send manual updates to your customers via email or SMS to keep them informed. Some merchants also use apps like Tracktor to provide shipment visibility for custom deliveries.
You’ll still be able to process orders as normal, but Shopify won’t automatically update tracking or calculate shipping rates at checkout for you.
