When buying shipping labels from Shopify we used to be able to select a Shipping Date a full 7 days in advance. Now we are only able to select 2 days in advance. Is there a way to get this back to the 7 days in advance schedule?
We have a huge number of orders this time of year and pre-printing labels is a requirement. We don't want our customers to receive shipping confirmations too early and we also don't want to turn off shipping confirmations altogether.
Help with this is much appreciated!
We’re encountering the same issue when trying to set our shipping date. When we create a shipping label and select the shipping date, the only options available are today and the next two days. For example, today is Wednesday, and the only available dates for shipping are today, Thursday (11/21), and Friday (11/22). Previously, the available shipping date options extended over the next seven days, which allowed for much more flexibility.
I reached out to Shopify support to report this issue and was unfortunately told the following from the Support Advisor.
"It is true that previously, 7 days in future were available, and our team has confirmed that this has been reduced to 3 days when setting shipping dates for label purchases, If Sunday is one of those 3 days, 4 days will show."
The recent change Shopify implemented, restricting ship-out dates to just two days, is highly impractical for businesses like ours. We pack orders from Wednesday through Friday for shipment on Monday. This workflow doesn’t align with the new two-day limit. I imagine many businesses operate similarly, preparing orders in advance without immediate shipping. This adjustment is disruptive and seems out of touch with real-world operations. I hope more businesses voice their concerns about this change so Shopify will reconsider and revert to the more flexible seven-day window that worked much better.
We have the same issue, our business is highly seasonal and this time of year is critical for pre-printing labels. How can we prevail with Shopify to modify this ridiculous policy, imposed on us without any notice. To go from 7 days to 2 days is beyond rash.
It’s incredibly frustrating to see such a significant shift from a 7-day shipping date to just 2 days. This change feels rushed and inconsiderate, with little regard for the businesses relying on the Shopify platform. It’s even more frustrating that this change was implemented without any prior warning, especially during the busy holiday season when businesses are already under immense pressure.
I just spent 40 minutes with Shopify support discussing this issue, and provided them with this link so they better understand the problem they have created. The rep stated they would report back, but of course this is a drop in the ocean. I would suggest anyone concerned with this new policy contact support and share their frustration.
It's a horrible change. Especially for our local post office clerk who will now have to scan 100+ packages a day. We need to print labels more than 2 days out. Ridiculous change. Support had no reason for the change.
We have several customers who took advantage of our annual sale event, but are traveling for the holiday. They don't want expensive packages sitting on their doorstep for two weeks. One customer has requested shipping on December 14, and another for December 8.
I completely agree - it eems like you should be able to adjust dates for special requests doesn't it? Otherwise we are normally same day shipping up until 3:30 pm for the majority of our orders. I don't want to go into settings and make a change that looks like we don't ship for 7-14 days out....
We're running into the same issue - I reached out to Shopify Plus support a couple of weeks ago and was told that it's no longer an option to change back to the 7-day schedule. I've been hoping that enough shops would complain and they would switch it back. This change happening without any notice has been super inconvenient for us as we pre-print labels before they enter production, which generally takes at least 1-2 business days already.
With Christmas the week after next, this change is forcing us to manually email almost 3,000 customers to notify them that they will receive their shipment confirmation email early, and that it will take 3-5 business days for their tracking to actually update. That's a long time for their tracking to sit at "Pre-Shipment" and will no doubt increase our customer service inquiries when our team is under enough stress as it is with the holidays. Shopify deciding to make this change right before the holidays was so inconsiderate, and I'm sure it will cause more issues than it was initially implemented to resolve.
