All things Shopify and commerce
As I imagine is the case for many of us, shipping costs are my largest expense. I will gladly upgrade my plan from Basic to Shopify if the shipping costs are much better.
Will someone on the Shopify plan please let me know what the USPS and UPS rates offered through Shopify are for the following scenarios? Thanks in advance.
1. 25" x 4" x 4" @ 3lbs, from 77494 to 48236; same package from 77494 to 97754.
2. 17" x 4" x 4" @ 2lbs, from 77494 to 48236; same package from 77494 to 97754.
Thanks. However, I think something may be wrong and/or there may be a misunderstanding. I am on the Shopify Basic plan and was asking for rates for the Shopify plan (the next more expensive plan). The rates you quoted are much more than I pay through the Basic plan, which doesn't make much sense as the rates in the Shopify plan are supposed to be better.
The Shopify Shipping Calculator is no use to me because it only displays rates for my plan (Basic - $348/yr), and the rates it displays match the rates I already receive. I'm trying to find out what the rates are for the Shopify plan ($948/yr) to determine if it makes sense for me to upgrade.
Thanks, anyways.
I've been trying to find the exact same info so I can decide if upgrading plans would save me money. Did you ever find an answer to this?
I haven't yet, but it looks like we may have an answer since someone just replied to my original post with their pricing on the Shopify Plan. I'm just waiting for them to confirm which package size/weights/destination they used, but it seems like their costs are much less than mine. I just responded to them with my costs for all four scenarios in my original post, so hopefully they will confirm the package scenario to which their costs are related.
I'm looking for an answer to the same question. I ran your scenarios and here are the outcomes on the Shopify plan to 48236 ($7.34) and to 97754 ($8.21). What are the numbers you are getting on the Basic plan?

Thanks so much for the info! Would you mind clarifying which package sizes/weights/destination you used (I included four scenarios in my original post). Using the below package info (same as my original post), these are the numbers I just pulled from my Shopify Basic account. If your numbers are for package number 1, I'll immediately upgrade my plan, but I want to make sure you used the same package info.
1. 25" x 4" x 4" @ 3lbs, from 77494 to 48236: $11.05 (UPS Ground Saver), $12.95 (UPS Ground), $13.77 (USPS Ground Advantage), $17.34 (USPS Priority Mail).
2. Same package from 77494 to 97754: $11.99 (UPS Ground Saver), $13.45 (UPS Ground), $15.27 (USPS Ground Advantage), $20.34 (USPS Priority Mail).
3. 17" x 4" x 4" @ 2lbs, from 77494 to 48236: $7.83 (UPS Ground Saver), $8.70 (USPS Ground Advantage), $9.92 (UPS Ground), $10.57 (USPS Priority Mail).
4. Same package from 77494 to 97754: $8.51 (UPS Ground Saver), $9.99 (USPS Ground Advantage), $11.86 (UPS Ground), $12.84 (USPS Priority Mail).
Well....when I ran what I thought were your number, there was no difference in the price of the 2 packaging sizes, but I see now that it is because I misread your examples. I was using 1.25" and 2.17", not realizing you were numbering the scenarios. Doh! Haha. I did think those were very specific dimensions.
I've re-run the numbers and it looks like the pricing on the Shopify Plan is basically the exact same. The only difference was a slight improvement on the Ground Advantage of the 2nd set. But I suspect that is because that pricing has actually decreased from USPS in the last year and yours may be the same now too. This proves to me that we aren't saving anything having the next plan up and you should definitely stay on the Basic plan.
1. 25" x 4" x 4" @ 3lbs, from 77494 to 48236: ALL THE SAME AS YOURS ABOVE
2. Same package from 77494 to 97754: ALL THE SAME AS YOURS ABOVE
3. 17" x 4" x 4" @ 2lbs, from 77494 to 48236: Only difference was $8.29 (USPS Ground Advantage)
4. Same package from 77494 to 97754: Only difference was $9.43 (USPS Ground Advantage)
Ah, haha! I can see how my original post looks like your initial though; I should have been more clear.
I was really hoping to see significant price savings, but it doesn't really look like it. Thanks for your help!
No problem. It was a huge help to me as well.
