Shopify & Instagram/Facebook Shop No Longer Possible?

Hi All,

Is syncing products from Shopify to Facebook and Instagram shops no longer possible? The new update im seeing

"Beginning August 10, 2023, you’ll no longer be able to host a shop on your Facebook or Instagram or use Facebook product tagging in posts.Learn more."

When i view my commerce manager with Meta, they are hiding both shops on Facebook Page and Instagram.

Anyone know what needs to be done here to fix the Shopify / FB

Thank you for the link!

I believe the core issue you might be running into here is that your business may be affected by the changes Meta made to Facebook Shops. If your business is not eligible to have Checkout with Facebook or Instagram enabled in the US then I believe the Shop functionality will not be available for you at this time. This decision was made solely by Meta and is not something that Shopify has control over.

Hi @MrGrif

Thank you for reaching out about this. Can you please share the "Learn More" link here for me to review? This could be region or account specific as I don't believe this to be a widespread change.

Hi @Shay
I'm also facing the same with a couple of Shopify stores.
This is the "learn more" from the message above:
https://www.facebook.com/business/help/953630345801994

Facebook did announce earlier this year, that they will disable product tagging on posts for some regions.
I don't thing there is a "fix" for this.

Hi Shay, so basically only US registered companies, for now, are eligible for Facebook and Instagram checkout?

Thanks for the link, will check it out.

Hey @aliamak

Some business are eligible to continue using the shops feature on Instagram and Facebook without having the checkout option for US businesses available. The first document I linked has more details on this.

As this is a Meta feature I don't want to speak for their service offerings as they could change at any time. The link I shared will have the most up to date details about this change and what merchant accounts require to continue using Meta with their business.

I have a registered US business with a US bank, EIN & SSN. The checkout on facebook was approved & active but suddenly they have removed the shop tab & the marketplace channel. I contacted Facebook & they sent this email to me:

"Thank you for your patience. Our internal team replied that the Meta Shops Ads team recently removed Facebook shops on desktop and mobile web in order to focus new feature development on the Shops experiences across the Facebook and Instagram mobile apps. This update will bring the following feature changes:
1. Removal of View Shop button & Shops tab from Facebook Pages
2. Users will not be able to access Shop Storefront and Products
* This includes Collections, Your Items, Search, Wishlist, etc.
3. Users will not be able to access Product Details Pages
* Facebook Product Tags on web will also not lead to Product Detail Pages
4. Facebook Cart will be hidden
* If accidentally visible, the cart will intentionally be empty or emptied
However, the Facebook Shops user experience will still be available to buyers in-app. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

For any additional questions or concerns, feel free to contact us as we're always happy to help.

Regards,"

The shop isn't unavailable on the app unlike what they're saying, so I have stopped contacted them because they either don't care or they have no idea how to fix this.

Yeah I'm in Canada and just discovered this myself. Sigh. Direct link to Meta's info on changes to various countries: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/623552069600842

Basically, if you're not the US with a US bank account, you can't use the FB/Insta checkout, which means there is little point in having items available on their platforms at all (save for the call-to-action button to direct people to your Shopify store, or posting items individually with links to your products on Shopify). This is really disappointing, I hope there is a way Shopify can work out an agreement with them (e.g. special conditions like a subscription fee, small per-transaction referral fee to Meta, etc.)

How do you use the call-to-action button to direct people to the Shopify store? It doesn't appear to be possible as Shopify is not one of the given options. The Buy Now action button gives everything but Shopify. 😞
