All things Shopify and commerce
Hello, recently I have encountered a customer who is not happy with his purchase. We are selling PPE and we have a strict no return policy. Two months after purchase the customer emailed us with a photo of a broken mask strap and wanted a full refund. This product is known for having 0 issues and 0 complaints for over 1000 transactions in our store.
We offered an exchange but the customer wouldn't accept. Instead, the customer started nonstop spamming our work email address and online chat, threatening to file a claim with the California BBB for fraud transactions. We got no choice but to issue a full refund.
Are there any ways that I can block customers by IP address, name, or email? I saw that Shopify has a Fraud Filter app but it has a very bad rating, and it doesn't seem like it supports IP address detection.
Appreciate for all the help.
As much of a solve as IP detection may seem it’s incredibly easy for someone to use a new IP and bypass whatever checks you might have in place. You can use tools like that Fraud Filter app to cancel orders if there’s certain properties you can match. The order still goes through of course but at least that manual process of cancelling can be automated so you can forget about it and get on with your day.
