Shopify Corporate Contact For Creating Shopify Educational Training Course

Could someone provide me with a direct contact number for a Shopify corporate executive to assist me in obtaining permission to create a Shopify Instructional Course for my students.  I currently teach technology and entrepreneurship to inmates at a correctional and rehabilitation facility.  We have almost 4,000 inmates at the two facilities in my state and many more around the country.  I want to be able to obtain approval to utilize and provide any training or video content to inmates that go through our programs.  A large focus of the inmate rehabilitation process is to assist inmates with becoming self-sufficient and to provide them with an opportunity to immediately start a business that would lead them down a path to success.  Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.     -- Brian J.

Hi @BCRF-Instructor

Thank you for reaching out to our community forums about your course idea. I very much appreciate the work you are doing in the correctional institutes you are working with.

Because Shopify is a platform that not only powers our merchant stores but also our partner ecosystem, there are only a few steps required to use the Shopify brand on your personal learning material. Our partners and experts utilize the Shopify logo and screenshots of the backend system in many of their own apps, themes, and training courses and modules. By using the Shopify brand you in your training materials you will need to ensure that you contact press@shopify.com for written permission and ensure that you agree to our Trademark Guidelines

Once you have received the permission from our Press support team (they handle all our branding and advertising queries) you are good to go! If you have specific questions about how the platform works, our support team through our live channels or through our community forum here can help.

I hope this answers your question! If not, please reply back here and let me know.

Shay,

Who would I speak to about the possibility of being able to offer a free 90 day membership to Shopify for newly released inmates to help kick-start their efforts to rebuild their lives and help their families and community? I would love to be able to partner with Shopify to be able to offer such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that could make a difference and help newly released inmates succeed by becoming self-sufficient and entrepreneurial. This would be a huge boost to help reduce recidivism and contribute greatly to society in general by giving a second chance at success to those that have paid their debt to society and who now look to return and make a better life for themselves and their family. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Brian

Hey Brian! Our press@shopify.com email address is going to be your best point of contact. Please email them with your full idea/pitch and feel free to provide a link to our thread here as well. Someone from our team will review your email and follow up with you to let you know if this is something we are able to assist with. I'd be interested in hearing what they think of the idea so please don't hesitate to update us here when you hear back from them.

Haven't been contacted by the team at the email you sent yet.  I sent them an email explaining what I was asking for but they have not responded yet.  Any way to expedite?

@BCRF-Instructor There's no expeditated process for shopify support or press that way , just have to wait on their timeline.

If you've joined the partner program there's a partner only slack channel where you can start other outreach , results will vary as it's meant more as partner-to-partner peer system NOT a direct support line.

There's also many C-suite shopify folk on twitter , so if your in that space could be worth a shot to reach out.

If your a shopify partner you can create no-time-limit development mode stores with limitations that cannot be used for processing actual transactions until the store is handed over and payments cycle begins.
!Important when you create  partner stores when those store goes live partners get an affiliate share, per the rules you must always disclose this.

Further since your operating with as an educational/government source you may need to see about having that affiliate payout system disabled for the partner account in question to avoid conflicts of interest or other weird legal entanglements that could create.

So it's not the 90-day your looking however using the devmode method for stores at least lets you self serve until something more concrete forms.

Advice if your bringing in an influx of new merchants new to running a business who are also in a sensitive situation and financially hungry keep an eye out for predatory behavior that targets these news merchants your trying to foster. There's a lot of money flowing through shopify so just like every other area of money there is a cottage industry of trying to bilk merchants or target their stores.

Try to keep them away from empty dropshipping promises and fake hype they create, or illegitimate ecommerce gurus selling course or premade stores with flimsy proof.

Also keep in mind shopify has a great ecosystem that is suuuuper easy to run up a high bill through themes, apps, or hiring help, and other things that can lead to painful sticker shock if someone is not prepared and discipline slips in tracking expenditures. So before any publishing of stores or transfer or ownerships make sure all stakeholders are aware of this risk and have a habit of auditing the apps they are using.

To afford the legitimate overhead, or finance growth shopify has a loan system as well https://www.shopify.com/capital

Also make sure to include a lesson on chargebacks that bites so many merchants when they cannot afford it.

Goodluck!
