All things Shopify and commerce
Hello Shopify Community,
I plan to have my shop running, although am completely non-techy and don’t know where to start with Shopify until now.
Nevertheless, I hope that I will be able to launch my store and make sales by December 2025.
How can I quickly learn the simple things about Shopify such as creating a store, putting on products, and selling, without being too stressed out?
Please provide me with your most basic recommendations for this issue and maybe there is some kind of “beginner’s guide” that could help me out with Shopify.
Are there any tricks for greenhorns aimed at overcoming typical mistakes of newbies that one may come across?

If you are new at using Shopify, this is a brief guide to help you understand and use it quickly:
Quick process
Join Shopify, begin your trial, select a store name.
— Set Up
Choose “Dawn” theme (Online Store > Themes), include fundamental pages (Home, About, Contact).
— Add Products
Follow “Products” > “Add Product” to enter the product information such as title, description, price, picture, etc. and save it.
— Payments & Shipping
Set Shopify Payments as directed in the course materials (Settings > Payments), determine a standard shipping rate (Settings > Shipping).
— Launch
Opt for the Basic plan ($39/month), turn off the store password (Online Store > Preferences), share the link.
What beginners should do
For any assistance required visit Shopify’s Help Center or watch their educational clips on YouTube at no cost.
Some pieces of advice for beginners
— Start off with 1-3 products and keep the design plain.
— Set prices depending on competition and also carry out test purchases using the “Bogus Gateway.”
— Do not use additional applications in the initial stages.
— Go Shopify Academy
Go slowly, taking one step every seven days, and make sure to take advantage of Shopify’s chat available around the clock.
👋🏼Hola Ana,
Welcome to Shopify. A great and easy place to begin learning is on YouTube. Shopify has a great YouTube Channel called "Learn with Shopify" and they also have this video called "The Official Shopify Tutorial for Beginners 2025". Go take a look and keep us posted if you need any guidance. You can find more info below or reach out directly.

Hi there, and welcome to the Shopify Community!
It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning, especially if you’re not from a tech background — but the good news is Shopify is designed to be user-friendly, even for beginners. The best place to start is Shopify’s free tutorials and Help Center, which walk you through the basics like creating a store, adding products, choosing a theme, setting up payments, and launching. I’d also recommend the Shopify Learn platform, which has short video courses tailored for new store owners. Start by focusing on just one step at a time — like adding your first product — and don’t try to learn everything all at once. Make sure you're creating a compelling reason for people to check out and definitely add social proof to your site before you launch.
Have you started building an email list or social following?
As for common mistakes to avoid: one big tip is don’t wait for everything to be “perfect” before launching. Many new store owners spend too long tweaking small details. It’s better to get your store live and learn as you go. Also, always test your checkout process before you go live — that’s an easy one to miss. You've got this!
