All things Shopify and commerce
Hi,
I was going through some of the questions on the forum.
I was surprised when I noticed that Shopify passes address to customers' bank and they display it in the bank statement. Please see the forum URL -
When I created my Shopify site, I used my home address.
Could you please tell me how I can change my home address which may be passed to customers' bank account to a business address?
Thanks
Hi,
If we understand your questions, them you can change the address on your store by going to Settings --> General --> Billing address.
The same address is shown to your customers in the invoices.

To change your home address to a business address on Shopify, which may be passed to customers' banks and appear on their bank statements, you can follow these steps:
This will update the address that Shopify uses for various purposes, including billing information.
If you encounter any issues, you can refer to Shopify's support documentation or contact their support team for assistance.
What I understand from this forum - https://community.shopify.com/c/payments-shipping-and/how-to-change-address-customer-sees-on-bank-st...
is the address cannot be changed from admin. It says "Once this address has been added during the initial set up for Shopify Payments, it cannot be edited from within the admin.".
Probably, we need to contact Shopify directly to change this address.
Thanks,
did you figure it out?
Hi there, @paulson1. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums, and referencing that older thread there. My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!
I took some time to read through that thread, and the questions/issues that were being addressed there by one of our Specialists. In that specific thread, the information being shown to customers (so folks who would be purchasing from your business) was via customer's banking partners. Based on the information shared in that linked thread you shared, the information banks choose to share with their customers regarding banking statements is entirely dependant on them. Katy does a great job in that thread of summarizing the information Shopify provides to banks when charges are created for their reference.
Circling back, the information shown on the bank statements is derived from the information that is provided when setting up Shopify Payments. This is the information that isn't available to be changed within the admin, and you must contact our Authenticated Support Team to request making changes to this information.
I hope you find this information helpful! Let us know if you have any additional questions about this topic!

Shopify Payments is terrible with this. At least PayPal does it right, it shows PayPal's address in the banking statement. Thankfully there is that option, to be able to use PayPal. Not everyone will have a business address, they would have to use their home address (like me). This info should not be shown to customers. Makes no sense.
I have disabled Shopify Payments because of this (and is unfortunate because now I cannot use the several payment methods like Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.). Hopefully someday Shopify will wake up to this privacy/security problem.
