We are in Canada exporting to USA, USA customers disappeared after rebuilding from 2 stores (Godaddy) one Cad one USD into one store using "Shopify Markets". All international suff works from Geo directing to USA, to quoting in US dollars. Problem is at cart where Cad Currency is suddenly referenced and sometimes no currency just the $ sign .... too confusing for USA shoppers. Would be best if Cad dollars were never referenced.

Are there any other Canadians Shopyfyers selling in the USA that could help?

Hi,

This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

It sounds like you're encountering currency display issues in your Shopify store after merging your Canadian and US stores. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:

Possible Causes:

  • Incorrect Currency Settings:
    • Default Currency: Ensure your store's default currency is set to USD in your Shopify admin (Settings > General).
    • Currency Switcher: Double-check that your currency switcher (if enabled) is functioning correctly and accurately displaying prices in USD for US customers.
  • Theme Issues:
    • Theme Code: Examine your theme's code (specifically the product-template.liquid file) for any instances where CAD currency might be hardcoded or incorrectly referenced.
    • Theme Settings: Review your theme settings for any currency-related options that might be causing conflicts.
  • Shopify Markets Configuration:
    • Language and Region: Ensure your Shopify Markets settings are correctly configured for the US market, including language, currency, and shipping options.
    • Price Overrides: Check if any price overrides or adjustments are affecting the currency display for US customers.
  • App Conflicts:
    • Third-Party Apps: Some third-party apps might interfere with currency settings or display. Temporarily disable any non-essential apps to see if it resolves the issue.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Review Shopify Markets Settings:
    • Settings > Markets: Carefully review all market settings, ensuring that the US market is correctly configured with USD as the primary currency.
  2. Test with Different Browsers and Devices:
    • Test your store on different browsers and devices to see if the currency display issue is consistent.
  3. Inspect Element (Browser Developer Tools):
    • Use your browser's developer tools to inspect the HTML code of your product pages. Look for any instances where CAD currency is being displayed or referenced.
  4. Contact Shopify Support:
    • Explain the issue to Shopify Support in detail, providing screenshots and any relevant information. They can help you troubleshoot and identify the root cause of the problem.
  5. Consider a Shopify Expert:
    • If you're not comfortable troubleshooting the issue yourself, consider hiring a Shopify expert to diagnose and resolve the currency display issues.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.

Best regards,

Richard | PageFly

Thank you Richard. I try to troubleshoot myself whenever possible, so your guidance is a huge help.

All is great except that our primary currency is in Canadian dollars because we bank in Canadian $ and our warehouse is in Canada. The entire "Markets" system works well....US customers see products priced in USD all the way through to cart. Then at check out, Cad currency shows up possibly worrying USA customers, because number jumps higher. Todays currency exchange is Usd $1.00  = Cad $1.44
