All things Shopify and commerce
Shopify needs to realize that the New Analytics will never be as robust, accurate or user friendly as the Old Analytics. There is no point in spending the next two years trying to get the dozens of issues worked out when the Old Analytics was great.
as of today, I cannot pull up a report with all of the site visit information that I used to see all at once with the Old Analytics. it just isn't possible. the parameters I used to see are no longer offered in one report.
I now see hundreds of site visits every day from.... me and my developer. there is no way to filter them out of all reports or the live view on desktop of iphone app. I have opened tickets about this but no one has ever gotten back to me. I follow up and they say ticket is closed.
I also see add to carts and reached checkouts on one report but not another. it is simply wrong. both cannot be correct. I often see on the live view that there are add to carts and people in checkout but..... no one is even on the site. it is a disaster.
there are plenty of issues with Shopify we all want addressed. Analytics was not one of them until January. why spend money on things we don't want fixed just to make them worse while ignoring the issues we have continuously asked for?
Shopify, please hire me to run you IT for one week. I would do the smart thing. let go the developers of the New Analytics and revert back to the Old. that is the only reasonable thing to do since you will never ever get this abomination to the level of customer satisfaction the Old Analytics had for years.
Shopify transitioned to the New Analytics to build a more scalable, modern reporting system, which would allow them to unlock future features, providing deeper insights across stores and channels. The Analytics Old was not flexible and would not be able to accommodate new data models or customization in the long run. That’s not to say the transition hasn’t been disruptive — it has, and Shopify continues to iterate on and improve New Analytics based on merchant feedback.
In the meantime, workarounds could include using tools such as Google Analytics 4 for more granular visitor tracking and internal traffic filtering, or connecting your store to external dashboards via Shopify’s API or apps such as Lifetimely and Report Pundit for more custom reporting. Your own traffic filtering could be handled by GA4 or by browser extensions and UTM exclusions. It’s not perfect yet, but Shopify is striving for a system that’s ultimately more robust — even if the rollout was gappy and there are gaps still to be filled.
Shopify's new analytics dashboard has caused confusion for many store owners — slower reports, missing metrics, and layout changes. If you're looking to revert to the old analytics or fix these issues, this step-by-step guide can really help:

I spent two hours today trying to file my sale tax. used to take 10 minutes. apparently this is no longer a way to pull up net sales per county (or what Shopify calls Tax Name). so I cannot pull up a report to file my sales tax. the state requires net sales per county to do the calculation.
it is not that it is simply confusing. there is no way to run the reports I need. this being one example of many
step by step guide? that is just reasons shopify should roll back. it is not possible to roll back
Exactly. This isn’t about needing a guide.
It’s about core reporting functionality being removed with no proper replacement. Manual workarounds and apps aren’t a fix. Shopify needs to restore the ability to pull required tax reports (like Net Sales by County) natively.
