All things Shopify and commerce
I have chosen a template that I started to customize and published it. I have saved it down and I can see the saved custom version when I click "View" inside the template customization, from "View your store" and from "Preview" in the Shopify Admin -> Themes. However, whenever I try to click customize, it goes back to the standard template of the theme as if it never saved any of my work.
How do I continue to customize the same theme? It clearly seems to have saved it somehow, it just doesn't seem to want to let me to continue to work on it.
Hi @oneandonlya, you should try to clear cache and cookies; use a different browser or check for app conflicts (check if any installed apps might be causing the conflict by temporarily disabling them). If none of the above steps work, you need to contact Shopify support. They can help identify and resolve any issues with your account or theme settings.
Thanks for your reply @Amanda_Fordeer . I suppose I have to get in contact with Shopify support because I have tried everything that you suggested and none of it worked. There's only one app installed. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't working as intended. I have barely worked on the shop so I figured it might have been an error on my behalf but sounds like it's a Shopify error.
Hi, @oneandonlya. In this case I'd recommend you double check which theme you are clicking "Customize" for. You can have multiple versions of the same theme in your Shopify admin and you can click "Customize" next to each one of them to open the theme editor for that specific theme file. It's possible you have two versions of the same theme, one that is customized and published, and one that is not customized and in your theme library.
If you go to Online store > Themes in your Shopify admin you should see your published theme featured at the top of the page with a Current theme label. Your unpublished themes will be listed under where it says Theme library. You will want to ensure you are clicking the Customize button next to your published theme to continue editing the theme you have customized. If this is already what you're doing and it's still showing the incorrect theme, please try the troubleshooting steps @Amanda_Fordeer shared and reach out to our support team through the Help Center so we can take a look at this with you in more detail. We can't see account settings here, but if you contact us through the Help Center we can see more to assist.
