Shopify Payments & Dropshipping

Hey I'm currently setting up a webstore for my clothing brand. On it I want to sell self-made products as well as product fullfilled by printful. I'm at the point where I have to set up payment options and gateways and wanted to use shopify payments.

I read online that shopify payments in general prohibits dropshipping but that this method it is still often able to support dropshipping stores. I wanted to ask if mine is eligible. The location is Austria, I'm selling sustainable T-Shirts and Hoodies with custom prints on them.

If more information is needed to answer the question please let me know. Thanks your time and help in advance.

Shopify Payments is available in Austria and can be used to process payments for your online store. However, it's important to note that Shopify Payments has specific terms of service and policies that prohibit certain activities, including dropshipping.

While dropshipping is generally prohibited by Shopify Payments, there are some exceptions. According to Shopify's policies, you may be able to use Shopify Payments if:

  • You are the product manufacturer or designer, or you have a direct relationship with the manufacturer or designer.
  • You maintain control over your inventory and fulfill orders yourself, or you work with a third-party logistics (3PL) provider to fulfill orders on your behalf.

Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you are selling self-made products and products fulfilled by Printful, which is a print-on-demand (POD) service. As long as you have control over your inventory and you maintain a direct relationship with Printful, you may be eligible to use Shopify Payments.

However, it's important to carefully review Shopify's policies and terms of service to ensure that your business complies with their rules. You may also want to reach out to Shopify's support team to confirm that your business is eligible to use Shopify Payments.
