All things Shopify and commerce
Hello,
I am going to add store pick up option on checkout page like below screenshot.
I already checked it (https://community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Discussion/Pick-up-option/td-p/285948) but I am not sure how can do it.
Can you help me ?
I will wait your response.
Regards
Hey there! Go to settings > shipping > shipping zones section > edit the desired zone you want free pickup on, for me it's United States > go to price based rates > add a rate called "Pickup in store" > enter in minimum price to trigger your rate, if any > check the free shipping rate box.
To display "pickup in store" to in state customers only, you can create a new shipping zone called local pickup for example, then choose United States from the list. For this to work, you'll need to exclude the state from the other United States shipping zone, or it will not let you select it. Once you do that, shopify will automatically select the state that's available for shipping. Then proceed through the steps above to finish setting up your shipping. I included some snap shots from my development store.
For domestic, you'll see 61/62 states for shipping, one is excluded. That's the state assigned to the other shipping zone called "Local Pickup"
Settings should look like this for your local pickup shipping zone.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for your reply.
Currently I can see store pickup option and it show automatically.
Is it possible to make select?
In other words, customer can choose this option or not.
So when customer doesnt choose this option, he can do normally shipping.
Regards
I made store pick up option on Fl.
But if someone who is traveling there won't put in a Fl shipping address so won't know they have the option to pickup in store.
I need it to be a standard option somehow.
Thanks
So you want store pickup option in a standard rate? You would add it as a price rate to the other shipping zone. The zone with all the states. Hopefully that answers your question. Perhaps you can elaborate a bit if not.
Shopify does not have a good free solution to implement in store pickup. By creating a $0 pick up manual shipping option, it lists it as the first shipping option. With this set up, you are going to have a large percentage of customers that choose this by mistake when they really want their order shipped.
To truly have a logical and functioning pickup option - it seems you are going to need a $30/month app
Shopify finally has this feature
I'm struggling to understand why this isn't easier to implement. We have a single location where we will fulfill orders. We want to offer pickup. I've checked the "Local Pickup offered". But it doesn't show up as an option during checkout.
I've tried to follow all the various instructions that seem to suggest adding a second location, with a shipping zone that is just our state. I've added inventory to that location, but that still doesn't seem to allow local pickup.
What am I missing here? Why wouldn't "Allow local pickup" simply allow free pickup?
Hi! I am having this same issue - did you figure out a solution? Would greatly appreciate any insight!!
Hi, we were forced to use the option available to those who have two or more locations and goods can be moved between. It's been working.
I'm having the same issue. I was told to hire a coder to add code to the backend. did you find a different solution?
Hi,
I contacted Shopify via chat yesterday and spoke to a very nice person, who ultimately didn't understand my issue:
Hi, we have an issue with in store pick up. Customers with cards that have billing addresses in other states are not charged tax. We're in CA and need all in store pick ups to be charged tax.
We have a freestanding shop and use Shopify for our web platform. We do not sell groceries and anything that is picked up at our shop needs to be taxed, as it is not being shipped. The very kind Shopify employee sent a California Tax Issue workaround dealing with sales tax, which is not helpful. Is there an app that would work better?
Best regards,
magdalena s
