Shopify Trust Team

Hi there! I recently received an email from Ellah from Shopify Trust Team. I was wondering if this is a scam? It says that if I do not contact them through the link that they provided that my store will be closed. It says my store is under review and they are not able to inform me why. Which makes no sense. If my store is under review I should be able to know why and fix the issue? I sell custom charm jewelry. This is the second email I have received from them which makes me think it could be legit. However, every time I click the link they want me to click it says the address is invalid. Someone please help!

Hi @rachdougherty25 , thank you for posting here!

Receiving an email that claims to be from the Shopify Trust Team can be concerning, especially if it threatens the closure of your store. Here are some steps you can take to verify the authenticity of the email and protect your store:

  1. Do Not Click Any Links: Since you mentioned that the link appears invalid, avoid clicking on it. Scammers often use phishing emails to steal sensitive information.

  2. Check the Sender's Email Address: Ensure that the email address is from a legitimate Shopify domain (e.g., @shopify.com). Scammers often use email addresses that look similar but are slightly different.

  3. Log in to Your Shopify Account Directly: Go to the Shopify website directly (shopify.com) and log in to your account. Check for any messages or notifications regarding your store's status. If your store is under review, there should be a notification within your Shopify admin dashboard.

  4. Contact Shopify Support Directly: Use the official Shopify support channels to inquire about the email. You can reach out to Shopify support through their website or via phone. Explain the situation and provide them with the details of the email.

  5. Check Shopify's Help Center: Look for information on how Shopify handles store reviews and communications. This can give you insights into whether the email content aligns with Shopify's usual practices.

By following these steps, you can ensure that you are dealing with a legitimate issue and not falling victim to a scam.

I got one saying I was using an unlicensed theme. I didn't even use a theme. I set up my store 100% from scratch. It was definitely a scam. It even asked me to download an app to speak to the Shopify Trust Team.

Hello!  I just got one from <shopifyexperienceexpeditiontea@gmail.com> stating that I am in violation of trademark policy.  And I should contact the Shopify Legal Team via Telegram.
