Hi, @rbwajid.

Welcome to the Shopify community! We appreciate you sharing your question.

What kind of online business are you looking to start on Shopify? I'd love to hear more about that and offer applicable resources.

When setting up a store in the UAE, you'll want to keep in mind the billing sales tax. We are now required by law to charge merchants in the UAE (VAT) on their Shopify bills. Merchants located in the UAE jurisdiction will begin seeing this tax on their bills starting from November 19th, 2022.

You can be exempt from this tax if you provide your VAT ID. Existing merchants will receive a home card and an email notification about this at least 30 days prior to the taxes being applied to their invoices. The button within the notification directs you to your billing settings, or you can navigate there yourself. Within your Shopify admin, head to Settings > Billing > Tax Registration. We have more information on taxes included in our Charges - Taxes resource.

Shopify Payments is not available in the UAE as per our Supported Countries resource. I encourage you to explore our UAE Payment Gateways to Accept Customer Payments. I'll share below some payment gateways to look into.

Once you're ready to get started, you can sign up for a Shopify store and enjoy a 3-day trial and $1/month for 3 months on select plans. I recommend clicking on each plan to learn about the different features and benefits that best suit your business needs.

If you'd like more information on the platform such as shipping information, payment options and how to get started, give our Shopify FAQ a read-through.

I hope this helps!

Hi, @HamzaSohail.

Thanks for joining the thread.

You can use PayPal to pay your Shopify bills. Here are some of the requirements for your PayPal account.

PayPal Account Requirements:

  • PayPal accounts will be charged in USD since Shopify Billing is priced in USD.
  • PayPal will charge a currency conversion fee if the PayPal account is not in USD. Conversion fees range between 3-5% and differ by country.
  • Credit cards attached to the PayPal account need to have international recurring billing capabilities for the charge to go through. For example, local credit cards that require transactions in local currency will be declined.
  • In order to pay with the PayPal wallet balance, the PayPal account must be fully verified. Before the account has been verified, you'll need to select an associated card/account to pay from.

For more information, check out our Billing FAQ.

Hi, @donish!

Thanks for reaching out. You don't need any specific documents to create a Shopify account, however most payment gateways will require you to provide certain documentation. I recommend checking out this page to find the gateways available in your country, and contact the gateway you're interested in using to inquire about their requirements.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello @rbwajid

It is a thrilling experience to start selling in the UAE through your Shopify shop. However, you will have some important papers to deal with so that everything is legal and goes well.

Every country has its regulations and therefore first ensure that everything is in order with regards to your documentation. Consider this as the base upon which you establish your online empire since after completing it, you can sell more and expand on your products.

For that, consider having the following:

Business License: Obtain an e-commerce license or general trading license from the Department of Economic Development (DED) of your emirate – permission for your operations.

Trade Name Registration: Decide on a distinct name, and register it within DED, so that you have a recognizable brand which remains yours alone.

Corporate Bank Account: Start a UAE bank account so that every transaction on Shopify runs smoothly.

VAT Registration: Join mandatory VAT for the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) if your sales go beyond AED 375,000 per annum!

Payment Gateway: Integrate a suitable UAE payment gateway like Telr, PayPal or Stripe for easy payments.

Legal Policies: Incorporate refund, privacy and terms of service pages into your store – this is simple with Shopify’s templates.

You are fully prepared for launching your Shopify UAE venture expertly as long as you check once more whether you are completely safe with a specialized person locally.

If you’re selling in the EU, UK, and worldwide, you should use third party solutions to accept payments multi currency. Check this article https://www.linkedin.com/posts/techtolia_dont-wait-for-shopify-payments-to-be-available-activity-729...
