Should I list my private app on a store for select customers?

Hi to those reading!

I'm in the process of transitioning my app to production and am a little confused on which route to take. My app is supposed to be geared towards companies we are partnered with and should only be available to Shopify owners I grant access the app to.

If I am planning on giving the app to select customers, should I still list the app on the shopify store? I am pretty sure I remember reading that there is a way to make publicly listed apps unlisted and unavailable to the public. Does this still allow the app to be downloadable from the store? If so, how is this done? If this is possible, then I will go forward with hosting my application on Azure.

If not, would my only other option be to upload the app on their website privately? Or should I think of another way to distribute the application onto their websites.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

So I went to take a look at distribution on Shopify documentation and I stumbled upon this: Select a distribution method (shopify.dev)

It mentions two options. Single-merchant install link and listing on Shopify App Store. Shopify App Store.

My question is. What if don't want it to be available to the public but only to a few merchants? Is there a possibility to create a new Single merchant install link for multiple merchants? How to create a custom Shopify app can install for multiple merchant - Shopify Community talks about a similar issue to what I'm having. The app isn't meant to be a public app per se but more like a custom app that works for multiple stores.

Do I still need to go through the app reviewal process and post it on the app store in order to achieve this?
