All things Shopify and commerce
When trying to upload photos for some variants I added, I keep getting an error message saying "sku can't be blank"... when it's not. I gave the new variants skus and got the "variant updated" message upon saving each one. But when I try to upload a photo for a variant (again, already saved with an SKU) I get the "SKU can't be blank" error and the photo won't save and I'm kicked back to the beginning. My SKUs aren't long and my process was working for several variants before the errors started.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, keep getting an error message saying "sku can't be blank"
I have kinda same problem. I can't create a product without SKU (even if I don't tick the box "This product has a SKU or barcode").
SKU can't be blank
Did you fix this? I'm having this issue now. Very frustrating.
Jenny
this is driving me crazy, can someone from shopify at least reply?
I was able to get this fixed by contacting shopify support. They said it was some configuration/etc kind of an issue that they were able to solve. It took a moment to get through the first stage customer support before they understood the problem (maybe a problem that I have to communicate the issue as non-native english speaker though)
I’m having this problem as well and don’t see anywhere where Shopify has addressed this. Did I miss something?
No, you didn't miss the answer. They never responded. 😞
We found that entering the SKU as the first entry worked.
The first text entry we made was the SKU, followed by all the other product info.
We then checked the box (featured in the screenshot) and saved the product.
It worked for us so it could be worth a shot. We hope it works for you.
Thanks! this worked
I deleted my previous listing attempt and tried this and it worked! Write the SKU first before anything else people! Thank you 0106Plus
As someone else stated. Entering a SKU first before anything else fixes this issue. I just entered the product title and the SKU, then hit save as draft before going back and entering the product description, adding the media, prices, sizes, etc.
Amazing! This worked. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! That worked just fine. However I think shopify must resolve this problem ...
Click on all the variants then click actions then edit sku and just put random numbers there
Solution!! Make a product called test and make the price $1, and put "Test" as the description. Then save it, and duplicate and edit it for however many products you need. If you have further issues, ask the support staff, they are very helpful and friendly
