All things Shopify and commerce
Hi everyone,
A few online Alt Tag checkers are telling me my Collection card images on my homepage have no Alt Tag,
even though my Shopify CMS of those Collections shows they do
As do some installed SEO apps like TinySEO and Hextom (searches actual Collection images, not what's displayed on the Homepage/Collection Page)
Meanwhile, I also tried the 'Image Alt Text Viewer' plugin for Chrome. On my Homepage it agrees those Collection Cards are empty. And on the Collectio9n page it appears to say both Empty and a name is present.
I'm not sure what to believe, or where the correction needs to be made. I'm not advanced enough to do this in the page code, so hoping for a no-code solution! 🙏
You need to go to Specific Product and then media. After that click on the image that don't have alt text.
From the right side you will be able to write alt text.
The problem is this these images don't belong to any product. There are Collection card images, created for that purpose, which I just drag/dropped into the Image field below, and added Alt Text there using "Edit".
I couldn't even find the original image in my File library so:
1) I imported the image to my Files again
2) Gave it Alt Text there
3) Used it to replace the original photo in my BBQ & Grills Collection page
4) Noting that even though I gave it an Alt Tag in my Files, the Alt Text field in my Collection page is empty - so, I added an Alt Text there too.
5) Checked using SEO tools again (with hard refresh) - still showing empty.
Sometime when you add the alt text and these tools take min 24 to identifying it.
The only solution that you can wait.
