All things Shopify and commerce
Hi! Looking for more info on when we can sort through our customers alphabetically. See original question here, from a few years ago. Any updates on when we can expect this? Is it possible to sort customers alphabetically by name?

Hi @SafRet shopify rarely ever gives a timeline for such features or even make it clear if they are working on it unless it appears in the changelog/scheduled or announced at unite or as part of editions etc.
Meanwhile in the here and now if a merchant really needs some sort of workflow for this:
Current work arounds for doing something in the shopify-admin are to use tags, or metafields, for alphabetical categorization (read a to z not abc vs acb ) to at least narrow down the amount of results that may need to be searched through.
Such as setting up custom automations using shopify-flow , or mechanic that adds a tag such as "sort-a" for someone named "aaron", "sort-b" for "betty" etc or based on last names; or "firstname-a" and "lastname-b".
Depends on needs really, remember to cusotmize themes to hide such internal tags in any themes for the online-sales channel.
Or now hypothetically with the advent of metaobjects it may be possible to instead create a metaobject that display customers names and links sorted alphabetically using the api.
Such things have to be custom made, but mechanic has plenty of autotagging customer examples to based an automation off of:

Otherwise use export functionalities and do such searches in excel or gsheets, etc; preferably with a column setup that provides a link to that customer in the admin dashboard.
Or an internal tool service such a retool to make a custom dashboard.
