All things Shopify and commerce
I have recently verified and connected my old existing domain to my shopify store URL. Before, when I was viewing my new store uing the Shopify URL it all looked and worked just fine. Having now connected Shopify to my domain, for some reason the store displays, but none of the CSS is being applied so you just see text, all formatted incorrectly and no images. Can any one help? BTW I am using a standard free Shopify template (Studio) and there is no custom CSS added so I don't know why it won't load the stylsheet in the browser. Have tried clearing the browser cache and still no luck. I only connected the domain over a few hours ago, if that is of any relevance. The store domain name is www.martinico.co.uk
Hi @Martinico ,
There is no issue with the theme/setup. This issue is due to the transfer of the domain, which will take time. I have seen such issues with multiple websites where i work. Once the transfer is completed, it will work on its own.
So, I recommend you not to change any code in the hope to fix this.
If I managed to help you then, don't forget to Like it and Mark it as Solution!
Best Regards

I hope you are correct as the site is useless unless it works as intended. The thing is the new Shopify site my existing domain now points do, does load, it just wont load any of the images or the stylesheets. As a result the site is pretty redundant. Before I connected my existing domain and just punched in my Shopify URL address, it was fine.
Hi @Martinico,
I believe @makkaomakka is correct here; the domain you've shared seems to be redirecting to a website that is not hosted by Shopify, which is why you won't be seeing the work you've made on your Shopify store. Where was your domain pointing before you tried to add it to your Shopify store? Who is your domain host?
Please ensure that you have configured your domain's DNS settings following the instructions listed on the Help Center. You want to ensure that you have one A record which contains Shopify's IP address as its value (23.227.38.65) and a CNAME record containing shops.myshopify.com.

The website is hosted by Shopify and I am seeing the Shopify store but just with no CSS or images applied. I only connected my existing domain to it. I simply verified and connected the domain name (hosted by Freeola and following their instructions) to point to the Shopify IP4 address you quoted and the CNAME record to my specific .myshopify.com address where I replaced the "shops" element with my unique URL ID from Shopify. Before redirection, the domain name was pointing to the webspace where my old site was on Freeola, but that should bear no relevance. I have configured the settings as per Shopify's instructions, hence why I am at a loss. One question. Should I not have inserted my own.myshopify.com address in the CNAME record and gone with the generic shops.myshopify.com address instead?
This is how Freeola suggest I set up my CNAME record:
Just by way of an update, it turns out the issue was to do with my adding www to the domain name when I transferred it over in Shopify. Deleted the domain linked to my Shopify account and repeated the domain transfer less the www part and all now working as expected.
Hi @Martinico,
Great, thanks for letting me know. Domains can be tricky to deal with at times but I'm glad you got it sorted! The website is loading correctly on my end now as well.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or experience any other issues.
