All things Shopify and commerce
I'm having an issue with Shopfiy for drop shipping. For example, a drop ship customer (Lets call the customer XYZ Sporting Goods) sends me 15 orders a day. Shopify is storing all 15 of those addresses in the address book, which I don't need or want, so by the end of the week, XYZ Sporting Goods has 75+ new addresses stored . Additionally, it reverts the default address to the last ship to address. That means every time we go to create a new order for XYZ Sporting Goods (orders are created in the back office / admin panel), the default address is now the last ship to address. We have to scroll through all of those addresses to find XYZ Sporting Goods default billing address.
Does anyone know:
A work around?
A way to keep the default billing address locked in?
Is it possible to not have the shipping addresses stored?
*Note, we cannot hit "Reorder" of a previous order. All of the drop ship orders have a unique PO number that must be added to each order as a line item from the store front first, be set to a draft order and then picked up in the back office / admin panel. Additionally, many of our products are customizable which also must be customized the same way of the PO*
Thanks for any ideas!
I have the exact same requirement with dropshipping. Did you ever find a solution?
Hi, there! We'd be happy to look into this with you. Can you tell us more about your business and the workflow you'd like to follow? If you are hoping to sell products to other merchants using your Shopify store I'd recommend you consider using the Shopify Collective sales channel for this.

It is more the issue with the address book and handling of delivery addresses that is the issue eaxctyly as mentioned in the first post:

There are some settings that may be able to help with this, but without more information on how you're using Shopify I can't say for certain. You can find a guide on updating your address collection preferences here. You can also find more information on managing your customers here. If you can share more information on how you are using Shopify that will be helpful so we can share more advice or look into a workaround that works for your business.

Hi,
The Shopify website is used to take orders from trade customers who often ask us to dropship to their clients. Therefore every order they place will have a different delivery address. The problems that arise from this are:
1) The system will change their default billing address to match the delivery address every order, so they then have to remember and change it back to their billing address for the next subsequent order.
2) The address book grows to a huge number of random addresses and the admin management only allows very slow single line by line deletion, which is time consuming and painful to clean up (they dont wish to store them)
As mentioned in the first post the ideal sceanrio would be to either "fix" the billing address to a set address, and/or have th option to not store delivery addresses (or be able to bulk delete them)
Hey @MikeCAD.
Thanks for the quick response and providing that context.
I would suggest speaking with our live support to have a further look into the set up of your Shopify store and advise further. Since we are unable to authenticate over the Community forums due to the sensitive information that needs to be shared, I am unable to view the specifics. In this case, you can get in touch with our live support by navigating to the Help Center.
When you arrive at the Help Center, you will need to let the virtual assistant be aware that you would like to Speak with support and you will be connected with a Support Advisor accordingly.
Let me know if you have any questions.
