I started a trial a while ago and forgot about it but was never charged, I confidently opened a new store and signed up for the basic subscription, thought I could do it but it seems that I'm not ready to start my Shopify journey. I closed my store on the same day I opened one, I read that if this is done, an exception can be made, is it possible to have a refund done on the subscription charge.

I understand you've closed your account and are seeking a refund for the subscription charge. As per the Shopify Terms of Service, Shopify generally does not provide refunds. With that said, it sounds like you never actually used the shop, and cancelled it shortly after the trial had ended in an effort to avoid being charged. I closed a store shortly after activating the LTE $9usd subscription. The domain name for the store did not coincide with the store name is there a way in which I can get a refund? The transaction went through around 12 noon today. Can you assist me?
