Tagging customer based on store location in POS

Hi,

I want the staff in our stores to be able to add a tag when they sign customers up to the newsletter on the Shopify POS as part of the checkout process.
We could then use these to create segments in Klaviyo and also see which stores are gaining the most email sign ups to incentivise this further.

Can anyone advise how to do this as simply as possible so it can become part of the store staff's process?

Many thanks.

Hi there, @ElinP. Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community with your question about customer tags and your POS! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

Currently, it's not possible to bulk apply or remove tags to customers via the main customer section within Shopify POS. Instead, you need to add tags via the customer's profile via the POS, or via the 'Customers' section in the Admin. When initially adding a customer, you don't have the option to add a tag, but you can add the tag after the fact using the following steps outlined in this document:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap Add customer.
  2. Type customer's name or email in the search bar.
  3. Tap View details beside the customer's name in the search results.
  4. Edit customer information on the Edit customer screen.

Note: Your staff will need 'Customer Management' permissions to edit the customer information to apply this tag.

Our Retail Support Team may have some alternative suggestions for you to try! If you open your POS App, go to 'More' > 'Support' > 'Contact Support', you will find some contact information that you can use to connect with our Retail Support Team directly. This is a great feature of having POS; streamlined support to the team that knows POS best!
