All things Shopify and commerce
Hi there, I have been open for a couple of months and initially have had about 4 sales however my traffic has gone to zero. Can anyone shed some insight on why it’s dropped to zero?
thank you
carlie
Hi @wattie1111 !
I’m sorry to hear about the drop in traffic. There could be several reasons for this sudden change. Here are a few possibilities to consider:
SEO and Visibility
Your website might not be ranking well in search engines. Have you optimized your site for SEO? This includes using relevant keywords, having quality content, and ensuring your site is mobile-friendly. You can check the details from Google Search Console.
Marketing and Promotion
Are you actively promoting your business? Social media, email marketing, and online ads can help drive traffic to your site. Consider running ads targeting your customer group. Effective promotion strategies include content marketing, email marketing, and social media marketing.
Website Issues
Technical problems like slow loading times, broken links, or a poor user experience can deter visitors. Have you checked your website’s performance recently? You can check for issues by searching and clicking into your store from search engines. Also, remember to check the mobile version. For web performance, check the Web Performance report from Shopify Admin Analytics section.
Seasonality
Some businesses experience seasonal fluctuations. Is your business affected by seasonal trends?
Analytics
Have you checked your website analytics to see if there are any patterns or specific issues? Analytics reports can help identify trends and areas for improvement.
If you don’t mind, you can share your store here on the forum and ask people to help check if there’s something that needs improvement.
Thanks. If you find this helpful, please let me know by giving it a like and accepting it as a solution.
Thank you for all of that information, there is definately some work to be done. My site is thecrescentmoon.com.au if you would like to have a look. Thanks so much
I’ve gone through your website and here are some suggestions that might help improve it:
Set up an auto-rotate announcement bar: Currently, it’s manual, so there’s a possibility that customers may miss important information, especially about free gifts.
Show fewer products on the landing page: Currently, customers have to go through all the products on the landing page before they can see the collections, welcome message, and blog. This might cause impatience and lead to them leaving the page. I recommend using a featured collection component to display your best selling products(or the products that you wish to promote) on the landing page. This way, it only takes up a small row of space, and people can easily see the next section and other information.
Bundle your products: If your products can be used together or as a package, you can show them as bundles so customers can get a set of products instead of only one product.
Add a social proof section on the landing page: Displaying feedback on your products will make your website more convincing.
Add a newsletter subscription pop-up: Offering a discount for new subscribers can help you build an email list for continuous marketing.
Include a product selection guide or quiz: This can help customers choose the right product. For example, let them choose by scent, power, or mood. Personally, I felt a bit lost and unsure which product to choose when browsing through your products.
Review your policies: Ensure they are written correctly and clearly.
Improve image quality: The banner image in your blog section looks a bit blurry, which is not good for your brand image.
