Trying to figure out the best way to add products

I deal in hats (mostly) and they come in a LOT of different colors and styles. I am/will be offering semi-ready-to-wear hats and what I am trying to wrap my head around is how I would go about building my product inventory in Shopify that behaves the way I have this all mapped out in my head.

In my head: Customer selects Brand, Style, Color and "decoration" they want added, from a list of available options.

I initially tried this using "Richardson 112 Snapback Trucker" as my product, assigning variants for each color. The end. I'd reached my variant limit. I had planned to list the color options then list the 15 or so options for decoration...

I know there *has* to be a way to do this, so that I can make this as seamless as possible for my customers -- but for the life of me, I can't figure it out and I have GOT to get this up and going.

Any advice? I am really pretty frustrated with it all at this point.

I'm probably in over my head...

Hello @BigSouth

Shopify only offer 3 Variant options and it is a limitations for many of the store owners as a solution you can look for product options Shopify apps to fulfill your requirement.

Thanks

Here is what I am talking about. I add the variant "color" and then I go to add my 100+ colors and when I go to add a second variant, which would be decoration, it tells me that there are too many possible variations. Let me see if I can replicate the issue.

@Sweet_Savior_3 Here is the error I am getting. I am clearly doing something incorrectly. What is the difference between an "option" and a "variant"

Do I seriously have to create individual products for each color?!

Hi @BigSouth,

For your core product with inventory-affecting options, you can set them up as usual. However, for custom options that are made to order only and don't affect your inventory, you can utilize the Easify Product Options app to create them separately. Once created, these custom options can be added to your core products seamlessly.

If you could provide more details about your product options, I can offer a step-by-step guide on how to configure them using the app 🤗.

Easify Product Options: Any product options app can help you create custom options, but Easify turns those options into sales and conversions!
Easify Inventory Sync: Automate inventory syncing for Bundles, Duplicates, and Raw Materials. Say goodbye to manual tracking headaches.
Easify Product Attachments: Enrich your store with downloadable content. Easily add PDFs and other files to product or any page.
