UK seller, VAT deducted international sales

Hi All

Is it correct that Shopify takes away the UK VAT for international buyers? We are a VAT registered business. However we are not registered for IOSS. We were under the impression that to remove the VAT you had to be registered for IOSS.

Hi Joe,
when selling to the EU, we highly recommend the use of IOSS. With IOSS Your customers don't have to pay taxes or hassle with customs or postal operators when goods arrive. Unfortunately, I don't know how Shopify's basic calculator works. Our EAS tool at Shopify App Store calculates the taxes based on your customer's location and automatically creates and files IOSS reports. IOSS registration and intermediary services are included in the transaction fee. We have no starting fees or monthly fees.
