All things Shopify and commerce
Hello,
I have setup my preferred shipping service as Evri. I am now provided with discounted Evri shipping options. However, before I click "buy shipping label" - I notice that I am charged a "Billing Conversion" which is in USD.
How do I change this so that I pay in GBP?
Thank you
When you first set up your Shopify store, you choose a store currency (which customers see) and a billing currency (used for paying your Shopify fees, apps, shipping labels, etc.).
If your billing currency is in USD, you’ll be charged for things like Evri shipping labels, apps, and subscriptions in USD — even if you're based in the UK. That’s why you're seeing a “Billing Conversion” fee.
Unfortunately, Shopify locks this in — you can’t switch from USD to GBP yourself in the admin panel.
Go to Shopify Help Center
Scroll down and click “Contact Shopify Support”
Log in to your store
Type this into the chat box:
“Hi, I’m based in the UK and I’m being charged in USD for shipping and fees. I’d like to switch my billing currency to GBP to avoid conversion charges. Can you help?”
Hello @JJ36
What you’re seeing is Shopify charging you in your store’s billing currency, not Evri’s label currency. Even though you’re buying a UK label, Shopify settles your Shopify bill (including shipping labels) in the currency your store is set up to use. That “Billing Conversion” line is the fee for converting that GBP label cost into USD so Shopify can invoice you in USD. Two ways to pay in GBP instead:
1. Switch your store’s billing currency to GBP
If your business is UK-based, go to Settings → Store details → Store currency and change it to GBP.
Future invoices (including shipping labels) will then be in GBP—no more conversion fee.
Keep in mind this affects all your product prices, payouts, and store reports.
2. Connect your own Evri account
In Settings → Shipping and delivery, click Manage carriers under your Evri profile, and choose Connect your own carrier account.
Enter your Evri credentials so labels are purchased through your Evri contract. You’ll be billed directly by Evri in GBP on your carrier statement, bypassing Shopify’s conversion entirely.
If neither option works for your setup, you’ll unfortunately always see that “Billing Conversion” line when your store currency doesn’t match the label currency. But switching to GBP billing or using your own carrier account will eliminate it.
