All things Shopify and commerce
Hi,
I keep receiving emails from people claiming to have found my site in a list of underperforming stores, I know Shopify wouldn’t provide such a list , I only launched 2.5 weeks ago and whilst sales aren’t flying in, I’d imagined that organic growth would be slow and steady? Is there anything obviously wrong with my store, is there something obviously wrong that’s triggering all these emails to me?
thanks
Hi @Jolou
Welcome to the community. You did not share a link to your store 😀
But first, word of warning, you will get tons of emails, and 98% will be scam emails. They are either claiming to be from Shopify, that you need some license, some rules or anything else that sounds legit. Just check the sender's email. If it is @gmail delete and block. You can even make a filter that if the sender has "shopify" in name but it is still "@gmail" just skip and delete. Next, there will be tons of emails from "experts" that find all kinds of issues with your store, performance, Accessability score, SEO, and marketing. Most of those emails are sent in bulk, and those who hook on it profit. Be really careful who do give access to the store. Do not fall for "gurus" that do not even have a website but on Instagram they claim they can get you 40K a week.
I am also for slow and steady, but that also depends on what you sell. Please take some time to search here for " No Sales" topics. You will find that many store owners make a basic store, then pay some ads and expect miracles. But in reality, their stores need a lot of work. There is a lot of good advice that repeats, and there is definitely a lot that you can apply to your store.
Good luck.
Thank you for the advice, I’ll take a look at the no sales posts
my store is www.houseofhollowayyorkshire.com
Actually, that is a very clean and good-looking store you got. Nice job, and it's seen that a lot of work has been put into it.
Prices look reasonable, a lot of payment options are also good. Really good theme.
Still, there are a few things that could be improved or changed:
On the product page, a few things:
Hope something from this list helps.
Good luck with sales, they will come, I am sure.
Thank you for taking the time to have a look through my site, it’s my first one so appreciate your input. I don’t know how to do all you have suggested but I will definitely be doing as much as I can . Thanks again
You're absolutely right Shopify doesn’t provide any list of underperforming stores. But there are platform where stores are public about new stores. Launching a store 2 weeks ago and seeing slow growth is totally normal and BTW why are you not getting sales yet? Are you still developing?
Hi,
Thanks, I’m not sure why I’m not getting sales….ive tried really hard with the website for it to look professional and flow well, I blog to help seo and use socials ….ive obviously got something wrong just don’t know what.
i understand you and it's always like that for the first time so dont feel bothered or depressed. you just have to make sure your products are hot selling and you're targeting the right audience. I hope you understand?
also would you like to share your store link?
@Jolou i check your store and there's nothing much to say regarding it as the other person has did all the audit. but if you're really trying to work on the sales, i'd suggest you do more of promotions to groups related to your niche. or another way is that you try to pitch people who you think needs your service most. For example, marketplace on facebook, facebook groups for marketing and more like that. And also you can get to create some engaging content for your product on FB or tiktok.
I hope you understand what i explain briefly here?
Kindly like this as solutions if it helps and am open for discussion here. Thank you
