Unintended charges

I chose the 399 monthly plan for my Shopify store but I had forgotten all about it. I haven’t used the store and it hasn’t billed me yet due to me having insufficient funds in my account. I also do not want this to come out of my account. Is there a way this can be waived? I can not afford it.



You have $399.00 in outstanding charges on your Shopify account. Before you can change plans, we will attempt to charge your primary payment method for this amount“

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I'm happy to provide some assistance with this request, to ensure it gets resolved. 


When you first signed up for Shopify, you were asked to select from one of our paid Subscription Plans after completing your free trial period. These plans are billed on an annual or monthly basis, depending on what you've selected and are required in order to keep your shop active. 


As you no longer wish to run your online store, you will want to connect with us directly. This will allow for our support team to take a closer look into this request, as we don't have access to any account information through the Community.


The connect with us, you can: 


  • Head over to our Help Center.

  • Enter into the chat box Contact Support.

  • Log into your shop.

  • Select one of the available support options.
