Unusual abandoned checkouts

Hey Community!

Here's a weird one: I have dozens and dozens of abandoned checkouts in my store just from the past 3 weeks. I understand that a few are normal, but we're a very small company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. We really don't get that much online traffic, our focus is physical points of sale at multiple locations, so we typically only get two or three online orders per month. The vast majority of our online customers also have typical American/European names, and have a wide variety of books that they order. These Abandoned checkouts almost exclusively have typically Hispanic names (most are Brazilian/Portuguese and a few are more common Spanish names) and almost every single abandoned cart has the exact same product, a single copy of the cheapest item on our site. This feels very suspicious to me, is this some sort of hacking/phishing attempt? Is is a spam bot that got stuck in a loop? Something I need to be concerned about or should I just ignore it?

My site is experiencing the same issue. Have you had any answers on why this is happening?
