All things Shopify and commerce
My account was terminated during my free trial, and I'm trying to understand why. The email just said it was "due to activity that is not, or that we suspect is not, a legitimate commerce practice. This type of activity damages consumer trust and is a violation of shopify's Terms of Service. As a result, we are no longer able to host your store on the Shopify platform and your account has been closed."
This doesn't make sense because my store wasn't even finished being set up. It wasn't live and definitely no orders or customers. I honestly have no idea what activity could have triggered this.
The only thing I can think of is this: I first signed up for a trial with a different, personal email. I decided I wanted to use my company email instead, so I started this new account (the one that got shut down). On the old trial, I made one test product. I exported that single product and imported it into this new store while setting it up. Could that possibly be the reason? Moving that one product?
I submitted an appeal 5 days ago and talked to live chat 4 days ago, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
Has this happened to anyone else, and did you ever find out why? Also wondering about appeal response times – how long did it take for Shopify to get back to you? Feeling pretty frustrated and in the dark here.
Thanks in advance.
