Using Translate & Adapt app for test store, what happen when I move to main store?

Hi there,

I'm helping a client to revamp their store from 1.0 to 2.0. I'm working on a test store to set up everything including theme, etc for a client to make sure everything works before we install the new theme to their main shopify account. I've been working on their translation as well since they have two languages. My question is, when I move the new theme into their main shopify account, do i need to re-do their translations on the Translate & Adapt app in their main shopify account?

Thank you.

Hi,

This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

No, you generally won't need to re-do the translations.

When you move a theme from a test store to a main Shopify store, the theme's structure, including the language files and translations, is typically transferred over. The Translate & Adapt app will automatically recognize the existing translations and use them in your main store.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Theme Structure Changes: If you've made significant changes to the theme structure (e.g., added new sections or templates) in your test store, the app might need to re-scan the theme to identify new strings that require translation.
  2. App-Specific Translations: If you're using any apps that have their own translation settings, you might need to configure them separately in your main store.
  3. Manual Review: It's always a good practice to review the translations in your main store after the theme migration to ensure everything is accurate and up-to-date.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
