Hello, I have tried for a few weeks to upload videos to product listings. Finally realized I needed to buy a plan and use a theme that allows it. With that being said, I finally got a few to upload today,  ones I didn't edit (I take the sound out of my product videos). I need to edit my videos to take out background noises. I don't understand why every video that is edited gives me a processing error? Every single one. Please help, I bought a plan almost for that purpose .

Nicejob getting those unedited clips to upload! 🎉

Shopify needs MP4s (H.264 video + AAC audio), up to 1080p and \~50 MB, and it still wants an audio track, even if it’s silent.

I’ve had good luck with HandBrake: pick the Fast 1080p30 preset, set video to H.264 and audio to AAC, then export. That usually clears the processing errors.

If this fixed your issue, a like and marking it solved will mean a lot to me.

Hi @BCCrystals,

That sounds really annoying!

I'm curious to see what your current workflow is that causes the issue. If you reach out using the contact information in my signature, I'm happy to jump on a video call and review it with you to identify where the actual issue is coming from.

Hello @BCCrystals

Shopify product videos need to meet very specific specs, and any deviation (even from re-encoding) can trigger that “processing error.” Here’s what always works for me:

1. File format & codecs

  • Container: MP4
  • Video codec: H.264
  • Audio codec: AAC (even if it’s silent—use an audio track at 128 kbps)

2. Resolution & bitrate

  • Max resolution: 2160 × 4096 (but 1080p is safest)
  • Max file size: 25 MB
  • Bitrate: aim for around 5 Mbps for 1080p

3. How to re-encode cleanly

In your video editor, export with those exact settings—or

Use HandBrake (free) with the “Fast 1080p30” preset, then on the Audio tab choose AAC @ 128 kbps and add a silent track if you stripped audio entirely.

4. Upload from a desktop (not mobile)

Open your product in Shopify Admin, scroll to Media, click Add media, and pick your freshly encoded MP4.
