All things Shopify and commerce
Cheers everyone,
while googling my own store I found the following overview by Google:
As you can see, in that text there is still an old name of ours.
I checked all the descriptions you can access in our store. General brand setting, Online store preferences, etc. But I cannot find this text.
Anyone any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Hey @lxurnz_,
Sometime Google fetch the page title and crawled it in the search results. Try to take a look in the homepage Description.
And you can request Google Search Console to change it.
You can use a tool like Meta Tags Checker to view your site HTML. Or you can press Ctrl + U to view page source and you can find where it's coming from.
I hope this will work you.
Hi @lxurnz_, there are a few reasons for this. I'll explain where I think you'll need to review and what you'll need to do to edit this content:
First, check the content on your Website. Not just the Meta description, but also the content on that Product page, and also the content on other pages that mention the old Product name. You'll need to remove and completely replace the new name with the old name on the website to ensure consistency of the Product name.
Second, check the content on your Google Business Profile. Usually it's in the Product (or Service) section. Log in to your Google Business Profile and carefully edit the business description to remove any trace of "AMO Accessories"
Finally, check the schema Markup/SEO Apps. Shopify themes usually add basic structured data automatically. If you have installed any SEO apps from the Shopify App Store, check their settings. They often allow you to customize descriptions used in structured data, and the old name might be configured there.
Even after you find and fix the old name in your Shopify settings or Google Business Profile, Google needs time (days to weeks) to recrawl and update its search results. Be Patient.
Hope this helps improve your troubleshooting product description on SERP! If you find it helpful, please like and accept the solutions.
There are two circumstances you may encounter this issue:
1. Google did not update your meta descriptions properly, you can give it some time or let Google reindex your website by submitting sitemaps.
2. There exist something wrong in your code contents which prevent Google from crawling or indexing your page contents properly and if so, you need to check this issue with theme developers to further analyse if meta description related code is edited correctly and after correcting, you can let Google know the latest changes accordingly.
