I just received a welcome to shopify payments email today. I have been with shopify for years and have been using shopify payments for all this time. Why would they be sending me a welcome email now?

Could you please attach a photo of the email you received? Please include the email address that sent the email. If there is any sensitive information you do not want to show you can cover it, or if you would prefer to speak privately to share this information please contact Shopify on X (formerly known as Twitter) or Facebook. You can send us a direct message on either of those platforms. You can also contact our Support team directly if you would like to talk there. Use the chat assistant, and write "Advisor" in the chat. It's best to log in before attempting to join our support queue.

Thank you for the screenshots Jennifer! This does look like our standard onboarding email for Shopify Payments, but I am not sure why it was sent out to you today. I recommend double checking your store activity log (Settings > General > Store Activity Log) to see if there were any changes to your account that you didn't authorize or know about.
I'd also double check for any additional store accounts that could be connected to this email address using our Forgot Store tool.
If that all comes back clear, then I would disregard the email. But if you do have any concerns about your account, don't hesitate to connect with our authenticated chat team.
