What is the purpose of an account balance card for a new store?

I am in the process of opening my store and am confused as to the purpose of the account balance card.

Shopify Balance is a money management account that you can use to manage your store's payments and transactions from one place. You can add another account to allocate funds towards expenses like payroll, for example.
