What permissions does the web developer from upwork need to complete building a e-commerce website?

Hello,  I have hired a web developer from Upwork.  Which permissions should I grant them in order to build the website for me?  
I am looking at the permissions and it seems that they would need access to products, content, marketing, discounts, online store, and store settings, but I don’t want to jump to conclusions.  Expert advice would be very appreciated, thank you!

You got it, those settings sound about right. You can always hold back on certain areas if you need to and they can request you grant access as work comes up, this can slow things down though if they need access and have to wait on you to change permissions. Generally speaking, if they are building everything for you then you can grant them full access, excluding the payment and billing options in the Finance permissions. Just make sure they only have access to either a staff account or collaborator account and never the account owner login. 

Alternatively, if you don't have an online store at this time your developer can create a development store through their partner account (free to do!) and they can build the store out and transfer ownership to you once it is done. Developer stores are not able to go live until they are handed off to the account owner though. So if you were wanting to go live early and continue to build out, this may not be the best option for you.
