All things Shopify and commerce
Hello,
After Google Analytics updated their analytics system to GA4, all new accounts made come with G- not UA-
When will Shopify support the change?
Google Analytics has undergone a major update, but unfortunately Shopify doesn't seem to keep up in time. I hope Shopify can complete these updates before the end of 2020.
The Enhanced Ecommerce Shopify integration is only available with UA.
You can add the G- tag code to your theme files if you want to use the GA4 dashboard, or you can still create a UA property during setup (recommended).
I'm trying to outline the options here and will update as new info is released: https://aloagency.com/blog/shopify-and-ga4-analytics-setup
Hey guys,
I'm Radi from TAGinstall.
We do have a GA4 implementation in our app Easy Tag - GTM & Data Layer - https://apps.shopify.com/google-tag-manager-installer
Shoot me an email to support@taginstall.com if you need more details.
Cheers,
Radi
I'm pleased to inform you that we have created a free tool & video tutorial to set up Google Analytics 4 with eCommerce features on your Shopify store - without any app.
The current tutorials and solutions in the market(except for the paid app) didn't include the e-commerce tracking but only the global site tag that doesn't show you the sales in GA4. We have created a special code block to be executed in your thank you page that sends the data to Google Analytics 4 and it is working perfectly!
Here is the video URL > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0kUtXVi0cE
You can check more details in this thread.
Looks great as an option. Do the current Channel configurations make changes to each of the pages?
Agree, can we get an update Shopify? Universal Analytics will soon be obsolete and GA4 is the standard. GA4 has been available for 2 years now and your platform still doesn't support this basic marketing need.
There's no native integration yet - here are some short term solutions to get you up and running sooner. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/google-analytics-4-how-setup-shopify-right-way-kate-collinson/?tracki...
Kate, I read your article and it applies to Shopify Plus accounts. Any way for basic shopify accounts track the extra features we are accustomed to with UA?
Hi! It should apply to both standard Shopify and Plus accounts. Analyzify works with both.
Hi everyone,
GA4 tracking with Google Tag Manager works on all Shopify plans. The only difference is that you can track the checkout steps on a Shopify Plus plan. All other events like
are pushed to the data layer, and should work just fine on both plans.
We've done this with Easy Tag - GTM & Data Layer - https://apps.shopify.com/google-tag-manager-installer on many stores.
Thanks, Kate! Have you seen our latest video? We now have a free - open source solution for the Shopify & GA4 implementation.
