Why am I getting constant calls after buying a domain?

I purchased a domain from Shopify and from the next minute I keep getting harassed by different companies calling me about my domain. Different numbers around the US keep calling me for marketing, web development, graphics for the logo. At least 20 calls every hour.

I asked one of these callers where he got the number and he told me through shopify, I don`t know what he`s referring to but I need this to stop because I work on the phone and I get several calls from customers, this is doing me a huge damage and I`m thinking of taking legal action.

They call me at all hours of the day. I have told them numerous times that my number is NOT public and to take it off their list, but I keep getting calls.

My number is private on my website and is absolutely NOT public. Why is this happening to me?

Hard to say without seeing your store. However you should check your policy links, if you auto generated your stores policies one may contain your stores Phone Number. Try adding this at the end of your URL /policies/contact-information

It could easily be the same spammers or they could be sharing your number etc. Most likely it is accessible somewhere in your store, or elsewhere online in relation to your business.

Second, do a whois search on your domain name, most will come with privacy protection but not all.
