All things Shopify and commerce
Apologies if the label for this post is incorrect. Tried to use "Customers" and it wouldn't take it.
Here's my problem: I was briefly checking the Customers tab from the main admin page only to notice this one customer had entered their information about 50 times. Just wondering what this is about? Have you had this happen before?
Check out the attached screenshots. Love the "fake@fakemail.com".

Hey @Megachip.
Thanks for reaching out.
I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! Looking into this, it definitely looks like spam from a bot or customer that is creating duplicate customer profiles using a fake email address. In this case, you can add an application that will help combat the individual from creating more profiles or completing the checkout process. A great application that will allow you to set up filters, flag suspicious orders and block certain known customers is Fraud Filter.
With that being said, since we cannot authenticate you over the Community forums due to the sensitive information that would need to be said, I am unable to look into the specifics. It would be best to reach out to our support by logging into your store using our Contact Us page.
Once you successfully login, you will be directed to the Help Center. Select the topic that you would like assistance with to locate the option to Get Support and speak directly with a Support Advisor about the situation.
Let me know if you have any questions.

@Megachip By any chance you have Google Sales channel enabled for your site?
Mark Mustermann is a known bot from Google that creates account that scans your store.

Ollie, thank you for the helpful feedback. I'll reach out for support if I cannot resolve this through other means such as the Beacon app mentioned by Jason_Beacon
Ollie,
I know this is probably outdated, but in the Help Center, I don't see an option for Get Support, only an option for "help" that simply leads to the communities. I don't see any way to speak directly with a Support Advisor.
I am also having a security issue that cannot be solved through the communities.
Any help with contacting an actual Shopify Support Advisor before I pause my store would be great.

No, it does not work. I have tried this, I have two factor opt in and it works. But the spammers sign up through this page account/register and they come from the same location every time and they use a fake name and register as a CLASSIC account which I have turned off, and they won't ever opt in because they are not signing up through the app I have installed. They are signing up on the classic account pages even though I have that turned off. I had Shopify "help" but the didn't do anything to fix it and closed my support ticket. I have had this account for years and I don't know if it is because I use an older theme but I'm pretty much over it and ready to shut my account and set up elsewhere. I pay too much for no support.
Hi Jocelyn,
We ended up opening the section from the account/register page in code (in the theme) and blocked the form components and that seems to have resolved the issue for us. Let me know if I can help you with that.
I just got three this morning. 😞
Probably because I keep messing with my template to try to get this to stop since no one would help me. 😞
Actually, I also tried that, and added an image in place of the form. So then they were going to the cart and I finally found where to turn off the opt in on the cart checkout page. So now, they just are going directly to the path and sign up on the default classic account form. I think I messed up my template trying to fix this unfortunately.
We just did two things that got this to stop.
1. Under the Online Store node we chose - Preferences. At the bottom there is an option to Enable "Google reCAPTCHA on login, create account and password recovery pages". We enable this.
2. We went to Edit Code in our theam and opened up "registration-form.liquid" and disabled the entire form here. So when this page loads now it is just a blank page.
This seems to have resolved the creation of any "Classic Accounts". Contact me 1:1 if you want some help to work on this.

I do have the Google Sales channel enable though I have not worked much on it's development. Funny how that's a known bot.
Anyone familiar with this type of robot and how to make sure this doesn't happen again?
We're dealing with the exact same problem. They're coming from your Create an Account page, probably. Turn on a Recaptcha.
Also, if you haven't already, ensure these accounts aren't getting welcome emails etc. They're real email addresses and they will get marked as spam and hurt your deliverability.
Hi @MiestoGo , Did you ever find a solution to this issue? We are experiencing the same problem in our store. I thought I found the solution of disabling the form in the Classic Account creation but we are still seeing accounts be created.
I have the same issue and looking for a solution. Any updates on this?
