All things Shopify and commerce
Hi,
I created a store (store1) for testing some of my codes. And I have another account (different email) for another store (store2). When I copied the codes from my testing store (store1) to another store (store2), the image links worked! The pictures showed up great on store2. The image links are file links from store1. I wonder why this works. Can anyone explain it?
Many thanks,
Elsie

This is an accepted solution.
The files are on a Global CDN network so made intentionally accessible via direct link. Whatever you copied would have linked to that asset from store1.
What's the concern here?
If you're interested in learning more about Shopifys CDN the landing page is on the CDN domain itself:

Thank you so much! I was just very curious about why it worked. Thank you for sharing the learning resources. I will look into that.

Hi @Elsie-L,
As mentioned by @Jason, files uploaded to the Files section of the admin are publicly accessible and this is why you're able to use a file uploaded to your first store as an image on the frontend of your second one. There is no issue with doing this so long as you have both stores active; you would run into an issue if you closed your first store, for example, which would take the file offline and prevent it from being accessed by your second store.
You can read more about uploading and managing files on the Shopify Help Center, but please also let me know if you have any other questions.
