I create long blog posts, with lots of photos, videos, internal and external links. I usually continue to edit them for a few days, or even a week after they've posted, and I have no issues at all.

But if I have to come back a few months after they've posted, for example, to swap out a video that is no longer available on YouTube, or even just to add a sentence to a paragraph, I can't do it.

The newly edited blog post will suddenly develop a series of blank lines that I can't remove, or if I try to remove them, will intersperse one paragraph into another, or remove whole paragraphs entirely. If I try to remove a video, even if I carefully remove just the HTML from that video, the blog will truncate at some weird spot, sometimes, literally, a third of the way down into another video. I will be able to see that the rest of the blog is "there" but it will no longer be visible to a reader.

This is happened several times, and I've had to recreate the blog post from scratch, which sometimes takes hours.

Any thoughts?

Hi Victor,

I noticed after I posted this that Shopify made some changes to the blogging capabilities on the platform. I haven't tried to update an older post since those changes, so I can't speak to whether the changes will prevent this from happening in the future. It's so frustrating that I hesitate to even test it out, until I really need to make an update!! I'm hoping that I can just reply to the question in the future if I continue to have problems.
