Why can't I verify my email for domain setup?

I cannot verify my email address, I have clicked resend email and it has not sent me anything to my email, I have done this multiple times and waited 24hrs and NOTHING so what is going on with it and how can I get this fixed so I can verify my email and to finish setting up my domain that I have paid for thanks.!

I understand that you are having some trouble with the domain verification for your domain. You have purchased this domain on Shopify, is that correct?

 

Thanks for confirming that you have not received a domain verification email, even after re-sending the email yourself through your Shopify domain settings page.

 

Can you confirm the email provider you are using for this email address? Are you using an AOL or Yahoo email address by any chance? It is possible that the verification emails might end up in the spam/junk/promotional folders in your email account, so I would recommend checking those just in case. 

 

If you are unable to receive verification emails to your email address then you may need to adjust the email under the Registrar Information to a different email address - a safe bet is a standard Gmail address. There is more information about this here, which includes considerations before you edit the contact info. 

 

It is also important to realize that the registrar email that you are using for the verification shouldn't use the same domain that you are verifying. For example, this means that if your domain is called domain.com, you should not have info@domain.com as the registrar contact email as it will likely cause problems.

 

Are you seeing any error messages in your admin, indicating that there is Action Required for the domain? Any extra info or screenshots that you can provide will be helpful.

My email address that I signed up with is a Gmail account but it is hidden by a weird email that Shopify gave me so customers don’t actually see my real email, and yes I have the button that says action required I click it then it brings me to an error saying VERIFY EMAIL I click the button and wait 24hrs and I get nothing my email and everything is correct because I get everything else sent from Shopify except for the email to verify my email address for my domain

Can you confirm if the Gmail account email address is entered in the domain contact information? Or are you seeing the other customer-facing email address you mentioned?

 

By default, the Shopify store owner's email address and information are used for new domains. So this should automatically be set to the regular store owner's email, however I would recommend checking this:

 

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
  • Click the domain name.
  • Click Domain settings > Edit contact information.

If you have confirmed that the standard Gmail address is already entered here, and is not receiving any of the domain verification emails, then it would be a good idea to reach out to our support team so that we may take a closer look and help you troubleshoot this.

 

You can also try changing the email address in the domain contact information to another one where you will receive notifications about your domain subscription. Before changing anything please be aware that you need to wait 60 days after making changes to your contact information before you can transfer your domain (this may not matter to you if you do not plan on transferring the domain).

My domain verified to my gmail acct but the email will not verify.

Thank you for reaching out! We are currently experiencing an issue with domain verification emails being sent. Our team is working on getting this back up and running as soon as possible. I recommend changing the email address to a different provider besides @gmail or @yahoo, then resend the verification email, hopefully that will work for you!

I'm facing the same issue too and it has been 4 days since your reply.

 

I can get any email? Where does the email suppose to apper? I only have access to the email behind my branded email which is the original email.  Am I suppose to get the verification email to there? because I can't find any other email panel managing for the branded email... I purchased my domain from Shopify itself...

If you are experiencing issues with contacting our live support from the Help Center due to an error message. I would suggest attempting to clear the cache on your browser and try the action once again. 

 

If the issue persists, you can attempt to get in contact by using a separate browser to see if that works successfully. For example, if you are using Safari - try this on Google Chrome.

Hello, @Ollie 

 

I'm having an issue with verifying my domain name. On the domain page, it said "verify your domain name," but I didn't received any email initially (the email address is the same one I used for Shopify, specifically a Gmail address). Eventually, I received the email and finally confirmed it. 

 

However, it still says "verify your email to FINISH registration for xxxxxx.com (my domain name)" on my setting-domain page. 

when I click the "Resend email" button, it displays "server error."

 

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hello @Imogen 

I just restarted my computer and logged into my Shopify store. The "verify domain" notification is no longer there. I think there was a glitch between Internet connection and the Shopify system. Since there's no longer notification regarding domain verification, I assume I dion't need to verify my domain name anymore. Is that Correct?
