Why can't you delete saved packages?

Why can't you delete saved packages?

I have my Shopify set up via weight for all my shipping profiles and I buy my postage directly on the carrier website.  A couple of months ago I used Shopify shipping labels as that was the best price and in doing so I had to set up a package.  This has completely screwed up all my shipping profiles as it adds the package shipping to my created shipping profiles making the postage insane, I thought that I had fixed it and postage was coming through at my specified rates again but today a customer was charged an excessive postage and the only thing I can find that caused this is the saved packages.

I want to delete the saved package but it won't let me as this is now the default package and that can't be deleted.

How do I stop Shopify making these postage errors, I have never had problems like this before with my shipping and it is only since I purchased Shopify shipping one time which I now regret.  I don't wish to buy all my postage via Shopify.

Hi @grumpytortoise

Custom solution: In Customize > Shop > Product catalogs, you can set a size per product so that they no longer use the predefined package size, or you can take out the weight chooser and make it use shipping rates, not rates combined with a package they could save. Leave package size blank too in checkout settings—it will stop Shopify from overwriting your manual shipping rules.

I have everything set up via weights on the product pages, and then the shipping profiles by country and weights trigger the value.

I actually use your app (Seal Subscription) and this month when it auto-renewed despite everyone being set to pay standard delivery everyone has been charged an increased shipping rate I think because Shopify is adding 2 profiles together I just can't work out how to stop it.  One customer was charged $45 on a $10 sub, rather embarrassing.  I don't believe it is a your app problem, it's very much a shopify problem. I think it's losing me business and I'm struggling to fix it.

It won't let me do this as I only have the one package and it's the default so it can't be deleted.
