Why didn't I receive full commission from my client's theme purchase?

I had a question, I developed a Shopify store for my client on the Impact theme. My client bought the theme. As per Shopify Policy, I expected to get 100% commission from the theme purchase but I didn’t. Is there any reason why I didn’t?

According to Shopify's policy, if you develop a Shopify store for a client and they purchase a theme for that store, you should be entitled to receive a 100% commission on the sale of the theme. This commission is paid out through the Shopify Partner program.

However, there are a few reasons why you may not have received the commission you were expecting:

1. Your client may not have used your referral link: In order to receive the commission, your client must purchase the theme using the referral link provided by the Shopify Partner program. If they did not use your link, you will not receive the commission.

2. The theme may have been purchased before you became the store's developer: If the theme was purchased before you became the store's developer, you would not be entitled to receive the commission.

3. The commission may not have been processed yet: It can take up to 60 days for the commission to be processed and paid out to you. If it has been less than 60 days since the theme was purchased, you may need to wait a bit longer to receive the commission.

If you believe that you should have received a commission for the theme purchase and have not, you can contact Shopify Partner support for assistance. They can help you investigate the issue and determine why the commission was not paid out as expected.

Hi Emily, thanks for your response. I transferred the store after creating it. The client paid the $39.99 fee out of which I got 20%. Now when he purchased the theme I didn’t get the commission for it. However yes, it hasn’t been 60 days. I’ll wait for that. But please clarify, I did not have any referral link. I thought if I developed the store and transfer ownership, I was already entitled for the theme commission since I created the store on that theme.
